Clolita Vitale has been elected to the board of directors of the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation.

“The board of directors of the Selby Foundation is honored to welcome Clolita, a distinguished leader with an exemplary career in the fields of performing arts, law, and higher education,” said Susan Hines, Selby Foundation board chair. “She embodies the Foundation’s values and will join us in advancing our important work with humanity and humility.”

Lakewood Ranch resident Vitale earned a degree in Theater and Dance, performed professionally and taught dance before she began a career as a buyer at the University of Maryland at Baltimore campus (UMBC) and rose through the ranks to become the Assistant Vice President for Administration.

Vitale went on to receive a Law Degree from University of Maryland School of Law and added University Counsel to her previous title, representing the University in legal contractual matters at all levels of state government. She retired from the University in 2008 and became Senior Counsel for Constellation Energy Corporation (Constellation) which later merged with Exelon Corporation, a Fortune 50 corporation, where she became Assistant General Counsel specializing in contracts and intellectual property.

Vitale volunteers for causes supporting women and girls. Locally, she has shared her talents as a board member for the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School and Girls, Inc. as well as volunteer and mentor for New College, and Women’s Resource Center.

Vitale will begin her term on June 1, 2024.
