Photo: Selby Foundation Board Treasurer Carolyn Johnson will retire from the board on May 31, 2026 after many years of dedicated terms throughout our history. Carolyn is holding her original pottery depicting Bill and Marie Selby on their transcontinental adventure 1909.
Carolyn Johnson has been a steadfast supporter and champion of the Selby Foundation for many years. Her love and care for nonprofits, both as a Selby Foundation board member and as a volunteer and a philanthropist, have built a more caring and compassionate community.
To know Carolyn personally is to understand her commitment to the most vulnerable people. She exemplifies the Selby Foundation value of humanity in every interaction. In Carolyn’s service on the Selby Scholarship Selection Committee in multiple decades, we always see her pain when a choice has to be made. “Can’t we just fund them all?” she dependably asks.
Environment, human services, health care, education, and arts organizations have all benefited from Carolyn’s support–and not just the institutions, but the people who power them. Always an encourager and a welcomer to anyone new, Carolyn consistently shares her personal care for leaders at every level in nonprofits.
As Carolyn departs the board of directors at the end of the month, she will continue to hold a forever place in the Foundation’s history.
