On Wednesday, May 10, the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation hosted a lively and meaningful reception celebrating the 2023 Selby Scholars together with their families, Selby Scholarship Selection Committee Members, and other passionaries for education at the Sarasota Art Museum.
This year, 45 students were selected in a competitive process for renewable scholarships that will support their “last dollar” needs for education in all four years of college. Students selected colleges and universities in Florida and around the nation, with majors ranging from biology to art.
Kiarra Womack, Scholarships and Special Projects Manager for the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, recognized each student and shared their chosen college and major. Board members Barbara Zdravecky and Susan Hines presented students with special Selby Foundation graduation cords.
In an interactive exercise designed to connect Selby Scholars with each other and Selection Committee Members, four students won a welcome basket for their college dorms.
