The upcoming holiday season will no doubt include increased attention on food security for our neighbors, but we know that nutritious meals are needed throughout the year.
The Selby Foundation is a capital grant funder. We are grateful for foundations in our community that invest in food and leverage their donor relationships to help. What role has our foundation played in recent years? Much of our investment has been boosting the infrastructure and innovation of nonprofits to help them do even more with technology.
- Technology to streamline systems for food distribution at All Faiths Food Bank.
- A CRM system and equipment to support Kim’s Krew, a Manatee-based organization delivering food and providing case management for people who are temporarily unable to reach a pantry.
- FoodRecovery.org‘s development of an app to connect truck drivers with food banks for food drop-offs when the original destination does not accept the fresh food.
- Software for Meals on Wheels of Sarasota to help create medically tailored meals based on client needs.
Our friends at the Bishop-Parker Foundation created the Manatee Food Security Network, an outstanding model for nonprofits and community organizations that want to increase food access together. We first learned about some of our grantees by participating in this group. Learn more and join.
Thank you for the roles you play in supporting food security for our neighbors year-round.
