In our region, everyone has their favorite weather forecaster. As the Atlantic rumbles, we listen to their predictions and cross our fingers for good news.
We see the dedication of so many people–working, retired, still in school–as our favorite forecaster of what comes tomorrow. The extraordinary ways nonprofits support people in rain and shine are ever present.
Many of the Selby Foundation’s contributions come on the front end of changing conditions: the capital improvements that are necessary to increase gains for underserved people, and sometimes, preparation for the physical storms themselves.
After Hurricane Debby, we enjoyed hearing from organizations that shared how Selby Foundation’s prior grants made them stronger.
- Resilient Retreat‘s new tractor “Dutch” helped to quickly clean the beautiful 84-acre site used for supporting trauma and healing.
- SOLVE Maternity Homes found its Bradenton house well-equipped with generators to keep the power on for its resident moms-to-be.
- For the first time in years, Arcadia Garden Club–a center of community-building with youth and families–did not have to worry about leaks since the installation of its new roof.
We love to know our investments are helping to put minds at ease, keeping clients as comfortable as possible–and even better–providing the tools for greater success in our region.
As we meet with nonprofit leaders this month for site visits, we know more great stories are in the process of being crafted for the future.
Storms may be certain, but so is a caring community.
